Super Smash Bros Brawl SD Card Image Converter (.bin to .jpg)

I love gaming on my Wii. Even though the graphics aren’t top-notch, the gameplay cannot be matched by the PS3 or the 360.

Anyways, my newest game is Super Smash Bros Brawl. As you may or may not know, it lets you take pictures of your in game action. Anyways, sending these pics from wii-to-wii can be quite a hassle. Not anymore, as you can transfer the .bin files from your SD Card to your computer and then use a little program to convert em. The only downside is that the wii only outputs 480p, so the pics are limited to a resolution of 640×480 (or 853×480). Anyways, have fun with this little utility!

Smash Bros Image Converter (2336)

(Downloads since July 18, 2008 are in “()”)

Oops… I forgot to mention that I didn’t write this program, someone else did. Sorry for any confusion caused.

  • I know this is a foolish question to ask, but is this program completely safe?

    Comment | April 22, 2008
  • Jonathan, I’m pretty sure its safe, I just scanned it with Kaspersky Antivirus and it didn’t find anything wrong with it.

is this program campatiable with mac?

    Comment | July 5, 2008
  • No, it isn’t compatible with the Mac. However, you could run some software like VMWare or Parallels to run the program on your mac, assuming its intel. If you have a Power PC mac, there is some software (albeit slow software) that can let you run windows programs, although I can’t think of the name of it off of the top of my head.

I just downloaded via bootcamp, but i still have one problem. I now have it open, but i cant find the program in my computer or in any maps. There is no problem with keeping my computer o, but i’d like it off. And thanks Jeff!

  • Chances are that you hit the “Open” button in Internet Explorer and it got saved to a Temp directory. Next time you try downloading it, hit Save instead and save it to an easy place to remember, like your Desktop. If I misunderstood your question, please tell me.

It’s good and simple, but you can’t convert in bulk. I have about 40 snapshots i wanna convert, but i gotta do it one by one. Incredibly Frustrating

    Comment | August 15, 2008
  • Hey Matt. Up at the top of the window when you first open it there is a button that will let you do batch conversion. Its red and blue and is the 3rd button. Hope that helps!

Hey is there any way to convert TIF pics to JPG pics

    Comment | August 23, 2008
  • yael

    can i also convert videos???
or when can i do it?

    Comment | August 31, 2008
  • @steve: I don’t think that the image converter can do that, maybe try a google search for “TIF to JPG converter”?

@yael: As far as I know, there isn’t a video converter yet. Thats probably because videos aren’t actual videos, they’re just the location of each character per every frame, which would make replicating them very hard.

  • Tom

Eh? When I try to open one of the files from ym SD card, it says “JPEG Error #68″. Whats going on?

    Comment | September 15, 2008
  • Logus

Is there any program to convert the videos also?

    Comment | September 17, 2008
  • @len; I would consult your Cell Phone’s manual or manufacturer

@tom; I really have no clue what is going on there, maybe your opening the incorrect file?

    @logus; See http://old-computer.org/blog/2008/04/02/super-smash-bros-brawl-sd-card-image-converter-bin-to-jpg/#comment-291

I’m not opening the inccorect file. What I do during the game, I take a picture of what I want, then save it on the SD card. When i try to convert it inot a JPEG using this program, it either comes up with an error, or it shows the image, but in really poor quality (Half of the image missing, blurring and fussy etc).

The strange thing about this is that it only goes wrong when i try to take an image during the WarioWare, Inc. stage. Do you know why this is happening?

When I want to convert a photo with Mr Game&Watch in Flat Zone it says error. ¿How can I convert this photo? Thanks

    Comment | November 5, 2008
  • Congratz Dan on the 100th comment, but that aside… maybe Flat Zone is a custom zone (I haven’t played it in a while)? If its not built with the game, it may not work… but i could be wrong with that.
